Job Description
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a small but rapidly expanding company in an extremely wide ranging technical role in an ethical, growing and interesting sector. Our friendly and hard working clients are box schemes (farmers and distributors who provide veg and grocery boxes), all of whom depend on our CRM/ERP software.
Your role will encompass almost anything technical, from setting up Linux servers to writing front end code, from onboarding new clients to designing processes, from UX to database administration, from providing support to troubleshooting, from security audits to core business logic development. You will be encouraged to provide constructive criticism and input and suggest improvements and ideas. There is a strong element of creativity and potential to influence technical direction.
Specific technical skills are less important than a willingness to learn, a solid understanding of computer systems, an enthusiasm for technology and high standards of integrity and trustworthiness. You must be responsible, mature, personable and professional, capable of dealing with both technical and non-technical people in a friendly, compassionate and professional way. You should be analytical and enjoy problem solving.
Experience and solid references will be more important than specific qualifications, but you must be able to demonstrate a base knowledge and understanding of most of the technologies required, and be willing to learn the others. A familiarity with box schemes and their operations would be advantageous.
You will report directly to the company director.
This job would suit either a developer seeking greater systems and infrastructure experience, a systems administrator seeking more development experience, or a generalist wishing to exploit their skills and creativity.
Working hours: 35 hours a week. You will be expected to manage your own time, but may have to work around clients. You will be expected to provide occasional holiday support cover. Initially at least, the role will be WFH.
Please indicate any additional skills you may have in your application, regardless of whether you think them pertinent to the role. They may be of future use.
Starting salary is £28,000 - £35,000 p/a dependent on experience.
